this past weekend has been just what i needed! it has cost me a pretty penny, but i needed to pull the trap door loose and just escape. having four jobs that all don’t pay is frustrating, but its nice when i can take a weekend off and just relax.

the indie mart vintage event today at workshop was amazing! a lot of great people came through and it was so positive. the heat was killer, but it was so beautiful out — the perfect kind of day that we needed. kelly taught me how to sew [!!!] and i made flannel and jean beer cozies. she’s going to take in all my old band shirts that i want to save and she’s going to hem my sookie shorts for my costume! i also met a lot of amazing people, finally got in the photo booth and hung out with old friends. i’m so happy to be a part of workshop — it really makes your day to be doing great stuff for amazing people.

last night was awesome — i finally hung out with my friend amanda and we had a blast. i needed some cheap clothes that were going to last me a couple of months, and i didn’t really feel like thrifting, so we hit up forever 21. i got the cutest plaid dress that fits me perfectly! i had so much rich food this weekend that it was a little tight when i changed into my house clothes tonight, but who cares! we also went by the rickshaw stop and watched her friends band, diego’s umbrella. it was good and interesting. i never really go to clubs, so its always funny to see the kinds of crowds that show up.

i’m off to copy-edit and start jotting down ideas for workshop, bas.com and the paper. hope all of you had a stellar weekend!

ps: i had an awesome feature post over at bas.com this past weekend…check it out and leave me some love!

its beautiful and warm out today in sf, so if you’re reading this post, i suggest you get off your computer and go to dolores! i just finished a warm load of laundry and i’m in need of some catch up work, which makes me sad. but go out, grab an ice cream cone and go slip-n-sliding with your friends for me!

♥ so i’ve been obsessed with this sign last week ever since i saw it in one of the photo essays on the selby. i’m super stoked that i finally found a place i can buy it from online. they’re a little steep, but i think if i frame them all, they’ll last forever!

♥ gala over at iCiNG published a list awhile back of not-so-typical date activities. i’m totally in love with it and i think its a great place to grab inspiration from, whether you’re in need of some romance or trying to rekindle the flame.

the indie mart is coming up in a week and i couldn’t be more excited. i’ll be tabling with stu in the warm sun and there will be lots of shit talking, lots of laughs and lots of bloody marys. i’m hoping to spend a little cash and a little time with the cuties that frequent, including the lovely kelly, who is basically who i wanna be when i grow up. if you’re in sf, this is a FREE event where you can drink, shop, see some local bands and get a number, all in one place. trust me, its where you should be next weekend. ;]

also, on an ending note, i went and caught kelli rudick at amnesia with stu this week and the girl has got skills. i still wonder how she’s not traveling the world, but her loop station use is pretty awesome.

now go out and chase the sun!

much needed update: new job, camera obscura, new place, summer of love 2009 and major changes.

i've negelected you, pretty things. don't cry -- i'm back and better than ever!

i've negelected you, pretty things. don't cry -- i'm back and better than ever!

hey everyone! i’m pretty sure i’m back. considering that i spend a lot more time at home now [because my roommates are AMAZING!] and the fact that i haven’t got jack shit to do until september, you’ll be hearing from me again.
first of all, my new place is awesome. huge, cozy and beautiful, i’m working on turning my room into a little bungalow. i just got my desk this past weekend, and everything is falling into place. although i may only be here for a year, i want it to feel like my place. my roommates, tom and daniella, are hilarious. i’ve forgotten how nice it is to have friends for roommates and to be able to come home for a long day and just get blitzed.
second, i’m managing editor of the paper next semester! i ended this run of the paper with a bang and i’m ready to work my magic on publication next semester. i’m probably going to be stressed, but i can’t deny what i’m good at, no matter how insane it makes me.
and my new job! i basically sit on my ass and listen to music all day and its amazing. i’m working four days a week, which is going to be the perfect amount for being able to
summer is getting off the ground finally. i have been waiting for it to hurry the fuck up forEVER because of some things that happened in the beginning, but it seems to finally have caught up with my spirit. i’m hanging out with tons of people this week and its already improving my mood.
last night, i went to see camera obscura at the fillmore and it was AMAZING. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. i’m pretty sure we caught most of the set, but we ran in mid-song, so i’m hoping that we caught everything. that girl is fucking adorable. i really want to hang out with her and write songs and drink tea and stay up really late joking about boys. yeah, that kind of adorable.
i was a little drunk, but this is what i can remember of the setlist:

“away with murder”
“swans”
“my maudlin career”
“french navy”
“james”
“lloyd i’m ready to be heartbroken”
“lets get out of this country”
“eighties fan”
“books written for girls”
“i don’t want to see you”
“teenager”

there may be a few that i’ve forgotten, but that was the gist of it, which was great. all the songs i wanted to hear, especially “eighties fan”, are all on there. i just tried to upload some of their tunes for you, but mediafire is being a cuntbag right now. i wish i would have bought a t-shirt or something to wear with my skirt and heels, but you know how the fillmore is when you’re trying to get out — its like trying to fit a fat girl in a smart car.
yesterday was also choice, since i got to go to the uptown AND weird fish, all in the same night. their vegan smorgeshborg of deliciousness is still keeping my belly full the next day. also, my company was extremely enjoyable — i hope i get to go out with him again.
until next time, catch up with me at stu’s site. i’ve written some pretty hilarious shit since we last spoke, and i think it deserves a read. :]

mission accomplished.

finally got some green last night and i’m so stoked. i was so relieved to smoke, despite the fact that my throat was killing me. i’m just super happy that i have some so i can get in some relaxation time before my hectic semester starts. i know i’m not going to be able to smoke at all if i want to stay on top of my game, so i’m hoping i can get it out of my system and then wait until summer.

my show buddy!

my show buddy!

its been so nice out lately and i’ve been spending my days inside, blogging and cleaning and doing nothing, which sucks. everyone i know is either sleeping or at work, so i don’t really have anything to do. i could go do things by myself, but what’s the use in that? errands are done better with other people.
i got tickets to les savy fav yesterday! i’m so stoked for noise pop this year cause i actually have a show buddy to go with. i have to try and call and get the paper to get in, since i don’t know how accepting they’re going to be with our little press passes. i’m sure if they hear its a college newspaper and that the circulation is in the double thousands, they’ll at least give us a photo pass. i’m hoping. gah. wish me luck!
